Felix, Song Joong-Ki, Chow Yun Fat And All The Stars At Louis Vuitton Men’s Pre-fall 2024 Show In Hong Kong
Pharrell Williams brought Hawaii to Hong Kong with a charming show by the water.
Excitement filled the air as Hong Kong prepared itself for possibly the biggest fashion event the city will host this year: the highly anticipated Louis Vuitton Men’s Pre-fall 2024 show. This show marked the first of many: namely, the French luxury house’s first show in Hong Kong, its first Men’s pre-fall show—a destination one, no less—and of course Pharrell Williams’ first pre-collection for Louis Vuitton.

Last night, as house ambassadors Song Joong-Ki and Stray Kids's Felix sat in the audience, alongside Hong Kong luminaries like Chow Yun Fat, Aaron Kwok and Louis Koo, Louis Vuitton transformed the renowned Avenue Of Stars into a beach strip, covered in sand and complete with an LED screen on the ground displaying crashing waves. An original composition by Pharrell Williams x Swae Lee x Rauw Alejandro, entitled “Airplane Tickets”, performed live by 50 ukulele players, signalled the start of the show.
As the musicians gradually departed, down came the first look: a double-breasted pant-suit with slight bell bottoms in white jacquard, complete with a matching leather Keepall. We get that it’s essentially a nautical-themed collection, but where is Pharrell taking us? Sailor collars and hats, bleached denim, neoprene coordinates and surfboards, and oh-so-adorable raffia steppers—it’s a wardrobe for sea travel, and for lovers of island life. It all clicked when tropical floral prints covered tailoring and casual sets, along with beaded accessories. Louis Vuitton Men’s Pre-fall 2024 collection brought Hawaii to us in Hong Kong; complete with a cast of models that included members of the Hawaiian surfer community.

After the last model had come down the runway, those seated facing the harbour started pointing towards the sky. As we all looked up, an assembly of drones did a dance, seemingly telling a story: one that perfectly summarises Pharrell’s first Pre-fall collection. Tides transformed into Hong Kong’s iconic red-sailed junk boat, followed by depictions of the moon and stars, and finally, the word “LVERS”.
A highly wearable and light-hearted collection, Pharrell Williams’ Louis Vuitton Men’s Pre-fall 2024 collection highlights the similarities of Hong Kong and Hawaii. Both are ports and epicentres for cultural exchanges, a melting pot of traditions and international influences; both a holiday and home—beneath the very same moon and stars that guide its dwellers.
