From afar, Charli D'Amelio seems like an average teen: She has a passion for dance, loves fashion and beauty, and spends most of her time either with her boyfriend or on TikTok. But in reality, she isn't like most 18-year-olds—after all, she's the second most-followed person on the platform (after Khaby Lame), her boyfriend is Landon Barker (son of Travis Barker), and she sat front row at this year's Milan Fashion Week (at the Prada show, no less). Oh, and those dancing skills? They have to be seen to be believed.

Now, D'Amelio is also launching her first fragrance, Born Dreamer. Housed in a refillable, star-topped bottle, Born Dreamer is a fruity-floral scent with notes of Anjou pear, orange zest, jasmine, musk, and cedarwood. The formula is also made with natural sugarcane alcohol and sustainably harvested jasmine.

"It was such an incredible experience, such an incredible journey to be able to work with these perfumers that make some of the best perfumes that have been put out on the market," D'Amelio tells BAZAAR.com of going to French fragrance house Robertet to help land on her signature scent. "It was very fun to be able to feel like I was in a classroom setting, getting to learn about something that I'd really never gotten to hear about."

Ahead, D'Amelio talks all things fragrance—from how she first developed an interest in perfumes to who in her life smells best (besides herself, of course).

What are some of your favorite smells?

I always lean toward a very fresh and clean scent. Honestly, the weird stuff—I love a good cleaning product, when my room is freshly cleaned. And [the smell of] outdoors, being in the sun—that feels like the beach.

Who is the best-smelling person you know?

I feel like if it's not me, it would have to be probably my parents. They always smell good.

What was the first fragrance you ever wore?

I remember when I was younger, I would always go into Bath & Body Works. I would collect the body mists, as well as the hand sanitizers and everything that would go together to complete the set for all of those fragrances. That kind of got me into the fragrance world.

You moved to L.A. from Connecticut. What scents remind you of home?

A lot of those fall scents. The seasons changing—you can really smell it in the air [in Connecticut]. And that always gives me a great reminder of being home. It's nice to have that little flashback sometimes.

Your fragrance is called Born Dreamer. What was your last dream about?

I feel like my last dream was probably something that was very similar to what is going on in my life. But I'm not a super-crazy night dreamer. Most of my dreams are thought of in my conscious state of mind.

If Born Dreamer were a TikTok dance, what would it be?

I would say something by Haley Sharpe. Her dances are a lot more intricate, and the way that the moves are choreographed I feel like I could see the fragrance being something in that realm.

What are the beauty products you can't live without?

The Rhode by Hailey Bieber Lip Peptide Treatment, the salted caramel, is my favorite thing ever right now. It smells so good. And I've been experimenting a lot more now that my skin is kind of cleared up, and a lot of those products have been Dr. Barbara Sturm, a little bit of Tatcha sometimes, iS Clinical as well. It really will go between all of those brands, but I have a lot of more dermatologist-appointed things just because of my skin issues in the past.
