While Eva Mendes hasn't been in the spotlight as much over the past couple years, it's safe to say the actress and mother of two has been keeping very busy — and has been hustling more than ever.

In a new cover interview with Shape, Eva opened up about what's been keeping her busy lately, and revealed all the things she does to stay happy and healthy when life gets hectic. Here are just a few of Eva's tips.

1. She does interval training.

In her interview with Shape, Eva revealed that while she used to love to go running, since becoming a mother, she's been changing it up.

"I love doing intervals, like running and sprinting, and I see great results with that versus the 30 or 45 minutes of steady cardio I used to do on the treadmill," she said. "Between intervals, I lift weights."

The actress also loves doing squats and lunges — but has been taking it easy lately due to a herniated disc.

2. She always makes time to work out — and always makes time to take breaks.

For Eva, working out is self-care — so even if she's never totally ecstatic about doing it, she always makes time because it forces her to do something for herself.

"Working out allows me to spend time on myself," she told Shape. "Knowing that I have an hour to dedicate to my wellness is a priority for me now."

"I'm off-season right now, so I work out three days a week," she continued. "But when I'm getting ready for an event or in the summer, it's five days a week. I don't exercise more than that though, because I see better results when my body has a rest period."

3. She chases her kids around.

Being a mom is a workout in itself — just ask Eva.

"In some ways, it's been more challenging to get back in shape after my second daughter," she told Shape. "Yet it's not as hard as I thought it would be, because I'm always running around with the kids. I never sit down — I'm on the move all day."

4. She stays hydrated.

Healthy skin starts from within! Eva always has a bottle of water by her side in order to force herself to stay hydrated. She also loves fish oil supplements and slathering coconut oil on her face for a little extra glow.

5. She eats the same things every day.

Eva describes herself as a "creature of habit" when it comes to food, and the food she likes to eat tends to skew pretty healthy.

"I usually start my day with eggs," she told Shape. "I think they're like magic — you can do so much with them. I mostly keep it simple and have scrambled eggs and a piece of Ezekiel toast for breakfast ... I find that when I start out with the right source of protein, it definitely helps."

For lunch and dinner, Eva again keeps it simple and consistent, and always makes sure to get a good balance of protein and veggies.

"I grew up eating rice and beans, so I want some kind of grain in every meal," she said. "For lunch, I usually have salmon and rice or quinoa, and I try to include a salad. I'll eat the same thing for dinner. I'm a creature of habit in that way. I don't get bored with food. I try to think about it as fuel for my body. But what I am looking forward to is the time when dinner becomes a sit-down situation again. Right now I'm in survival mode with two babies, eating on the go."

6. ...But she also likes to treat herself.

Obviously, Eva is human — so she enjoys treating herself to some junk food every now and then. While having kids in the house has forced her not to keep as many treats around as she used to, she still likes to indulge in a little sugar.

"Sweets are my thing," she said. "It's ongoing, and I have to manage my sugar cravings constantly. I've gotten used to having something sweet after every meal, so I'm always bartering with myself: No, no, I can't have that after dinner, but maybe I can have it after lunch instead. The kid in me thinks, I work out, so I can support my sugar habit. I know that's not a very wise thing to say, but I really do feel like I'm working it off!"
