Mariah Carey Ushers In The Holiday Season With A Hilarious Video Posted Right After Halloween
She's thawing.
You might think the period of time from November 1 to January 1 is considered the "holiday season," but you'd be wrong. Real ones know its real name is #MariahSZN.
Mariah Carey (a.k.a. the mastermind behind all our favourite Christmas songs) officially celebrated the incoming winter holidays with a hilarious video in which she transforms from a spooky, cackling witch to a whistle-toning, reindeer-riding Santa Claus. She aptly posted the video at 12:01 a.m. on November 1—exactly one minute after Halloween ended.

In the first half of the clip, Carey wears a black patent-leather catsuit, thigh-high lace-up boots, and a witch's hat. She sits on a stationary bike, pedalling away in a dark forest littered with jack-o'-lanterns. A bat fluttering behind her carries calendar days that count down from October 25 to November 1. As the camera slowly zooms in closer to Carey's face, her witchy laugh transforms into her signature whistle notes. Now dressed in a Santa-themed catsuit against the background of a winter wonderland, she sings, "It's time!"

Speaking with Harper's BAZAAR last year, Carey opened up about her attitude when it comes to making Christmas music.
"I love writing. I love creating. I love working with musicians," she said. Christmas music, especially, is sacred. "I have this thing where I don't want Christmas music to become bland for me or take away a little bit of the festival."
While in the studio to record her 2021 Christmas single, "Fall in Love at Christmas," Carey mandated that a Christmas tree be put up. "I know it sounds dramatic and silly and whatever, but it matters to me," she explained. "I just still like to see those lights. I like to see it when I'm singing, because the song goes … We gotta fall in love again at Christmastime."
