Prince William has revealed the cherished memories behind three of his favorite songs.

The Duke of Cambridge recorded a special episode of the Apple Fitness+ audio show Time to Walk, in which he encourages listeners to take a walk for their mental and physical health during the holiday season. For the audio walking experience, the royal walked through a location that had a special meaning to him while speaking on the importance of mental health.

During his walk, which was recorded on the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk, England, William also explained why three of his favorite songs are important to him. His first choice, "The Best" by Tina Turner, was a favorite of his mother, the late Princess Diana.

"When I was younger, Harry and I, we were at boarding school. And my mother used to play all sorts of songs to kind of while away the anxiety of going back to school. And one of the songs I massively remember and has stuck with me all this time, and I still, to this day, still quite enjoy secretly, is Tina Turner's "The Best" because sitting in the backseat, singing away, it felt like a real family moment. And my mother, she'd be driving along, singing at the top of her voice," he says.

"When I listen to it now, it takes me back to those car rides and brings back lots of memories of my mother," he adds.

William also shares a happy music moment that he has created with his own children. His second song, Shakira's 2010 World Cup anthem "Waka Waka," is a favorite of Prince George, 8, Princess Charlotte, 6, and Prince Louis, 3.

"Most mornings there's a massive fight between Charlotte and George as to what song is played in the morning. And I have to, now, basically prioritize that one day someone does this one, and another day it's someone else's turn. So George gets his go, then Charlotte gets her go. Such is the clamor for the music," he says.

"One of the songs that the children are loving at the moment is Shakira, 'Waka Waka.' There's a lot of hip movements going along. There's a lot of dressing up," he adds. "Charlotte, particularly, is running around the kitchen in her dresses and ballet stuff and everything. She goes completely crazy with Louis following her around trying to do the same thing."

For his third song, the royal chose a unique mood booster, AC/DC's "Thunderstruck." He calls it "the best tonic for a Monday morning," which builds his confidence.

"It absolutely wakes you up, puts your week in the best mood possible, and you feel like you can take on anything and anyone," he explains. "I'd imagine you're going to walk quite fast listening to it, maybe with a skip in your step, with the head-banging. It's a difficult song not to dance to or to nod along to."

Prince William's full Time to Walk episode streams for free on the Apple Music 1 radio station on Monday, December 6.
