Fourteen years after Justin Timberlake joined Janet Jackson during the Super Bowl halftime show and caused a "wardrobe malfunction" that sparked a national controversy, JT made his third Super Bowl appearance at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis tonight.
While Timberlake's former band member Joey Fatone hinted that NSYNC might reunite for the Super Bowl, Timberlake ruled out any chances of the boy band getting back together at a press conference before Sunday's game. He also denied that Janet Jackson, Jay-Z or his recent collaborator Chris Stapleton would make an appearance either.
Timberlake started his Super Bowl halftime show underneath the stadium singing his latest single “Filthy” from his new album Man of the Woods.
As he emerged onto the field with a group of backup dancers, he sang—but mostly danced to—a few hits from his 2002 and 2006 albums including “Rock Your Body”, “Señorita” and “Sexy Back.” He joined his band the Tennessee Kids on stage to rock versions of “My Love” and “Cry Me A River”.
Then a tuxedo-clad marching band joined him on the field for “Suit and Tie” before he launched into a tribute to Minneapolis’s most beloved musician, Prince. While there was no hologram of the late musician, Timberlake did accompany a large projection of Prince singing “I Would Die For U” while he played along on a white grand piano in center field.
Just as everyone was left wishing they could re-watch Prince’s incredible 2007 Super Bowl Halftime show instead, Timberlake drew us back to reality to watch him sing “Mirror” on a—you guessed it—mirrored set surrounded by dancers holding mirrors.

To finish out his 14-minute show, hundreds of dancers dressed in rainbow-colored shirts hit the field for one of Timberlake’s newer hits, "Can't Stop the Feeling," from the movie Trolls.
While the dancers took over the field, Timberlake went into the stands to end the show for a few “Super Bowl Selfies” with one very confused kid.
Super Bowl 2018 marks the singer's third Super Bowl performance. He first performed in 2001 with NSYNC alongside Britney Spears, Aerosmith, Mary J. Blige and Nelly.
Timberlake wore a modern-Americana outfit, a custom design by Stella McCartney, for the halftime set.
