When you're the modern-day Spider-Man, it's understandable to get the jitters before meeting your predecessors in the big Marvel franchise. Luckily for Tom Holland, girlfriend Zendaya was a solid antidote for his nerves.

On Wednesday (Jan 26), the actor joined fellow Spider-Man actors Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield for a virtual interview with Deadline to discuss their work together in 2021's Spider-Man: No Way Home. During their chat, Holland admitted that he was extremely nervous to meet the two actors on set, and that to help calm his nerves, he enlisted the help of costars Jacob Batalon and Zendaya to keep him company on their first day. "At our first rehearsal, I had asked Jacob and Zendaya to come with me to just kind of be there as like, my support system," Holland said. "Like, 'I'm gonna go meet these guys, I'm really nervous about it.'"

Holland continued: "'We have to read the scene, and I don't know how this is gonna go because we're all playing the same character, and we all have to bring our own heart and soul into this, and it means a lot to them, and it means a lot to me.' So Jacob and Zendaya were there on that first day."

Maguire and Garfield appear with Holland in the sixth and final film of the Spider-Man franchise to reprise their roles as Peter Parker in a plot involving the convergence of multiple Spider-Man universes. "It was daunting—it was very daunting," Holland said, "because we were a long way into shooting before you guys showed up."

"The date of 'the other Spider-Mans are coming' was etched on my calendar and [it] was getting closer and closer and closer," he added. "The closer [it] got, the more and more nervous I was."

Aside from giving moral support, Zendaya has been bonding with Holland's family as of late. The two recently took a couples' trip to Holland's family home in London, where Zendaya met with the the actor's parents and enjoyed a sweet, cozy stroll around the city.

J.B. Smoove, who stars as Mr. Dell in the franchise, is among the many fans who have shipped the Spider-Man couple. "I love those two. I love them so much," Smoove said of the two costars to Entertainment Tonight in November, adding that they are "the most adorable couple ever in the history of adorableness."
