Nylon! Neon! Those Flame Heels! The Best #Throwbacks From Prada Fall/Winter 2018

From the return of sportswear range Linea Rossa to the house's signature nylon reworked in neon, Mrs Prada digged into her own archives for inspiration

Who can forget the iconic flame heels from Prada SS12? Or the swoon-worthy neons from SS11? And, of course, which of us hasn't lusted after a Prada nylon backpack? Well, if you missed your chance the first time around, Mrs Prada has kindly revisited some of her most iconic offerings so you can finally get your hands on them come September. Who says lightning never strikes twice?

First seen on Prada's spring/summer 12 runway (as seen in the campaign image in the middle, shot by Steven Meisel and featuring Natasha Poly), the flame heels were the breakout stars of the collection. This season's reiteration sees them take the form of fully neon and neon-outlined wedges.

Prada fall/winter 2018

Now firmly established as the house's signature fabric, there was no escaping Prada's nylon bags in the '80s and '90s (see: Prada's FW95 campaign, featuring Kristen McMenamy shot by Peter Lindbergh, on the left). The past year has seen the revival of the fabric, in the form of backpacks, bum bags and more. For fall/winter, it has been reworked into neon shades, in the form of tote bags, clutches and crossbody bags.

Prada fall/winter 2018

Ever the pioneer, Mrs Prada debuted a sportswear range, Linea Rossa, in 1997—years before the term "athleisure" was coined. While first designed as products for sailing, skiing, auto racing and the like, it also came to be included on the runway, as with the image in the middle, from spring/summer 1999. Fall/winter 2018 sees the return of Linea Rossa on the runway, this time on neon nylon down coats (left and right).

Prada fall/winter 2018

The supermodel was a favourite of the House in the '90s, appearing on the runway (including for fall/winter 1994, centre; and fall/winter 1998, right) and in their campaigns. She returned to the Italian label's runway this season (left), in a coat that reflected the show's theme, "Nocturne".

Prada's spring/summer 2011 collection was a wonderland of neons, stripes, bananas, fur and monkeys (see: The SS11 campaign shot by Steven Meisel featuring Zuzanna Bijoch in the middle). This season's bags feature motifs of "primordial beings", including monkeys and dinosaurs.

Sarah Paulson managed to outshine Cate Blanchett, Sandra Bullock and even Rihanna at the Ocean’s 8 world premiere in New York City, all thanks to the neon green sequin fringe dress on the left (Paulson wore a floor-sweeping version). First seen in Prada's fall/winter 2007 collection, where black sequin fringe decorated skirts and jackets (centre), this time around (right), they are now available in white, green, pink and red, as dresses, tops and skirts.
