Chanel Addresses Those Hedi Slimane Rumours
Slimane was speculated to be heading the fashion house's move into menswear
Following Hedi Slimane's exit from Saint Laurent in April 2016, rumors swirled that the French designer could be lined up for a future role at Chanel. Given his friendship with Karl Lagerfeld, some speculated Slimane would head up the fashion house's potential foray into menswear. But today, Chanel finally put a rest to the rumors once and for all.
In a statement released to WWD, the house said, "The house of Chanel has no projects with Hedi Slimane. Chanel doesn't work on the launch of a Chanel men's wear collection."

While Lagerfeld has shown select menswear looks on Chanel runways in the past, the designer reportedly isn't interested in designing them. For now, it looks like both Lagerfeld and Chanel will continue to focus on womenswear. Slimane, meanwhile, is currently taking a break from design to pursue photography anyway.
