When we think of polos, we immediately think of Lacoste. Founded by French tennis champion, René Lacoste, in 1933, the preppy staple may have claimed fame on the green courts, but the brand and its signature piece have since evolved.
While some of us strive to be the Lacoste-clad tennis stars such as Novak Djokovic, the rest of us aspire to channel Margot Tenenbuam (Gwyneth Paltrow)—striped polo, fur coat, complete with a sleek lob. Polo t-shirts have not only made their marks on the courts and on big screen, but have gone onto the spring/summer 2018 runway shows too, where brands styled the humble polo layered over pleated skirts for a fresh spin or worn oversized for a nonchalant take.

The 70s was a time for expression and experimentation, where bold solid colours were put together for a fun, fresh spin.
Inspired by a sailor’s uniform, the 80s cotton pique polo is trimmed with navy blue and white striped shoulder yoke and a white colour. A pique polo dress is also available for ladies. That’s not all; both polo shirt and dress are available in children sizes—perfect for twinning with the kids!
Graphic, fun, and vivid—the 90s polo is designed to reflect the offbeat, colourful style and energy of the era. Also available in blue and red.
The 2000s’ version of the polo shirt is fashioned with a modern minimalist aesthetics of a black graphic line across the front on a straight cut silhouette—seamlessly showcasing how the classic polo shirt evolved through the decades while staying true to its sporty yet elegant look.
