Fashion In Review: Highlights From London Fashion Week FW17 Day 1

Finally across the Pond, and away from the blizzard that was New York Fashion Week, the English capital christened the start its week with new designers

Finally across the Pond, and away from the blizzard that was New York Fashion Week, the English capital christened the start its week of style with the Fyodor Golan show.

Opening London Fashion Week, designers Fyodor Podgorny and Golan Frydman celebrated the fifth anniversary of their label by heating up the catwalk with a colourful take on superhero dressing. Their collection of dizzyingly beautiful digital prints, inspired by The Powerpuff Girls, boasted sugar, spice and everything nice — and a lot of Chemical X.

At Eudon Choi, things took a complete 180 with the Korean designer's take on minimalist dressing. Inspired by the work of architect Adolf Loos (1870-1933), silhouettes were crisp, chic and "free of gaudy ornamentation". Choi's latest collaboration with global accessory giant Decke also meant that ALL his bags for the coming season are on our wishlists.

Speaking of drool-worthy, DAKS London's Creative Director Filippo Scuffi's collection for the British luxury fashion house left us pining for eternal winter. Dedicated to the "Savile Row Woman", quintessentially masculine fabrics are cut into flowing sweeping dresses in shades of the London sky.
