Vampire lovers, Detroit and Tangiers, Tilda Swinton—all rich fashion fodder for Joseph Altuzarra whose Fall 2016 collection was inspired by Jim Jarmusch's fashion-art house film Only Lovers Left Alive. In the movie, Swinton's undead Eve is a tender-hearted bohemian whose look Altuzarra translated through his rich textures and prints.

Altuzarra turned gypsy scarves, hippy florals and Indian paisleys into modern chic dresses with that slim-sexy silhouette he is known for, adding in floral jacquard knee-high boots for added pattern play.

Sweet, tiny florals were less precious when spliced with shearlings or made sophisticated in long straight-legged pants peaking out from under a gorgeous black shearling-lined coat that was so luxuriously tempting, it could make any woman beg for freezing temps.

Having established his own silhouette, Altuzarra is now marking his print and texture territory. The guy loves a gypsy motif, having shown coins and scarves in seasons past. For fall, it was feathery fringe and tassel creating shape and colourful texture to wonderfully bright sweaters worn with mounds of scarves and trim sporty pants.

His evening statement was brief but good—a handful of handkerchief print tops and gowns bedazzled with silver beadwork. They were breezy, bright and fun.
