Nic Kaufmann, Hunter Doohan And Literal Baguettes At Fendi Men's Fall/Winter 2023 Show
Think you saw the last of the iconic Fendi baguette? Think again
You'd think it'd be hard to top the Fendi x Marc Jacobs Spring 2023 show at New York Fashion Week last year, which honoured 25 years of the iconic Fendi baguette bag in spectacular fashion (remember, Linda Evangelista showed up). And yet, here we are just a couple of months later, with the Fendi baguette as you've never seen it before - in literal plush bread loaf form.

Cosy but cool, the plush baguette encapsulates exactly what Fendi menswear director Silvia Venturini Fendi hoped to accomplish with her latest collection. Shiny, shimmery disco ball hues infuse the otherwise sober palette of colours displayed throughout, making this an outerwear collection you'd want to wear to stand out on a rainy day. Strutting along to the beat of a custom disco soundtrack titled "After Dark," created specifically for the show by legendary Italian composer and producer Giorgio Moroder, the models walking the runway transformed Fendi's Milan headquarters into a discotheque pinball machine. And honouring Fendi's longtime association and collaboration with the Italian electronic music scene, a new version of Donna Summer's celebrated disco hit "I Feel Love" closed the show.
Contrasting with the cocoon-like double-breasted overcoats in the collection are languid knits and deconstructed shirts which serve to question the boundaries of utility in fashion. Ponchos appear to blanket ribbed separates, and normally form-fitting sweater vests fall gently off the shoulder here, serving to show how a Fendi man finds himself at home wherever he goes, whether on the streets or on the dance floor. And what a cast of men Fendi assembled for the guest list, from Singaporean TikTok star Nic Kaufmann to actor Hunter Doohan of Wednesday fame.
