The Andrew Gn Design Worn By Princess Kate Is Going On Display At Singapore's Asian Civilisations Museum
The design will be on exhibit until mid-September
Andrew Gn made Singaporeans proud by designing the gorgeous green coat-dress commissioned and worn by Her Royal Highness, the Princess of Wales - better known as Princess Kate - to the recent Trooping The Colour ceremony which took place in London last month. Now, all of us will get to see the design in person at the ongoing special exhibition celebrating the Singaporean-born designer, Andrew Gn: Fashioning Singapore and the World, which remains open to the public until 17 September at the Asian Civilisations Museum. This retrospective exhibition celebrates Gn's legacy by tracing his journey from Singapore all the way to Paris, where he now runs his business.

Gn had the honour of being the first non-English designer to dress the Princess of Wales for a public event. The dress was chosen based on a green coat from Andrew Gn's Spring/Summer 2023 collection, and pays homage to the Princess' new role as honorary Colonel of the Irish Guards.

The design will now be featured alongside 100 other elegant designs in the exhibition which have been worn by royal women and many celebrities from around the world over the years. The exhibit further explores Gn's roots in Asia, cross-cultural expressions of Asian and Western art in his work, as well as the distinctive aesthetics, craftsmanship, and global impact of the House of Andrew Gn.
In a statement, Senior Curator of Fashion and Textiles at ACM Jackie Yoong says, "We added this dress to the ongoing exhibition to immortalise and pay tribute to this historic fashion moment — for the Princess, Andrew Gn, and Singapore. It is the first time Catherine has attended the occasion in her new role as Princess of Wales. It is a huge honour for a Singaporean designer and speaks to his significance on the global stage — a major focus of the exhibition."
