The Quintessential 2000s Accessories Trends That Are Coming Back (For Good)

Rock every single look before the influencers flex it on Instagram. By Michelle Varinata

2000s

It felt like an end of an era when John Galliano got sacked at Dior. Despite his problematic behaviour, we can't help the fact that he was the mastermind behind so many memorably iconic accessories during his tenure.

While Maria Grazia Chiuri decided to resurrect Galliano's Saddle bag from the archives, we hope that she can actually bring back the logo embossed lucite bracelets.

Without a proper waistband to hold up your pants, belts were slung low at the hips to enhance the hip-hugger effect of low rise jeans. From Jennifer Lopez to Lil Kim, no one wore this trend better than them. Compared to most trends of the decade, hip belts were one of the more wearable looks.

Although this is from 1996, Tom Ford's hip-hugging belt from his Gucci days is a timeless treasure.

Before the micro bag, one of the hottest silhouettes for an "It" bag was the bowler. Round at the corners with two top handles, this shoulder bag is roomy, yet small enough to complement your #ootd. Gracing the elbows and shoulders of every tabloid icon, we immediately wanted to copy their look. (But, not their eyebrow raising antics!)

Even though we'd totally rock the bag today, we'll avoid wearing it with bum-revealing low rise jeans and shower slides.

Remember when the late Anna Nicole Smith sported head to toe Von Dutch at a talk show? It was the time when every "It" girl got a pass for dressing like a rich b*tch without any shame of flauting an excessive amount of skin or logos. Although the brand is more famous for its trucker hats, its #tbt cult status extends to their collectible bowling bags.

Wear it with a chain necklace, XL hoop earrings and slip dress.

Just when every "It" girl attempted to appear classier with skinny jeans and ballet flats, it was no brainer to grab a simple logo embossed bag. Even if you were an "It" girl on the rise (e.g. Diane Kruger), it was no brainer to be seen with a Cambon bag.

Teeny tiny sunglasses of the '90s are making its mark in fashion, but how much longer will it stick around before Kanye West sends another e-mail? Anyhow, our next bet is the rimless sunglasses. Not exactly the most face-flattering trend (ahem, ahem!), it's aesthetically pleasing to the eye.

With an excuse to pull out tinted shades from our bag, it immediately makes our outfits look playful and light-hearted like the incredible Miss Britney Spears before 2007.

As the vanguard of influencer-loved sunglasses brands, Quay Australia always has its pulse on starting trends. Rather than pumping out tiny shades, the Aussie brand is churning out rimless cat eye sunglasses. While it's been 18 years since Brit Brit wore her rimless pair, this orange rimless pair will certainly get a seal of approval from the Holy Spearit.

What exactly is the 2000s without a logo nameplate necklace? Whether it's a brand's name, a slogan or our own names, this trend basically turns us into walking billboards. Even Sarah Jessica Parker cemented this "It" girl staple into pop culture history when she wore her character's name on Sex and the City.

At the height of the logomania trend, luxury brands couldn't miss out on the opportunity to flaunt their own names in metal necklaces.
