Review Of Emporio Armani Spring/Summer 2022 Collection

The brand celebrates it's 40th anniversary this year.

In 1981 — when Giorgio Armani launched Emporio Armani — the idea of a diffusion line targeting younger people was still a new concept, and skeptics were unsure if producing a more accessible range of products would affect the house’s image. Now, with Emporio Armani’s Spring Summer 2022 show celebrating its 40th year, the brand is still faithful to its original intention of delivering a younger, free spirited facet of Mr Armani’s Italian elegance.

Emporio Armani started with a simple offering of jeans and befittingly, and this show paid homage to denim. There are denim suits in relaxed silhouettes and pants, oversized blazers and also cute mini jackets, all paired with flats. Dresses are playful, light and delicate, and youthful looks come in the form of sexy silk tops styled with miniskirts — perfect from day to night. There are also rich saturated colours and prints presented in languid maxi skirts, matching silk ensembles and slinky beaded skirts.

Elsewhere, streetwear tropes of tracksuit jackets and running shorts, replete with zippers and styled with visor sunglasses, gave the collection a futuristic pitch. What we really love? Leather harnesses styled under or over shirts and jackets.

In 1988, Mr Armani also debut a magazine for a brand, simply titled Emporio Armani Magazine. To mark the anniversary, the magazine will be revived with a single special issue.
