Miu Miu broke the internet—and stereotypes—with its fall/winter 2024 collection. While it’s always been known that Miu Miu is Prada’s younger sister, with its more youthful and playful aesthetic, Miuccia Prada proved otherwise with this show. Classic pearl necklaces were worn haphazardly over undone collars, highlighter-hued circle skirts were juxtaposed against oversized hoodies and leather boots, short hemlines were balanced with wool stockings and T-bar Mary Janes, and bedroom slippers were styled with pencil skirts and peacoats.

There was a spirit of eclecticism and rebellion in the air, accented with a strong underlying message of individuality. Choosing our favourite looks was a tough exercise—enjoy.

An otherwise unassuming skirt suit came in highlighter green, with the inner shirt tucked nonchalantly into the wool stockings peeking out from the skirt—a styling continuation from spring/summer 2024, and one that is going strong.

Ah Qin Huilan, the Shanghai-based 70-year-old doctor and style star, who captured the hearts of viewers far and wide upon walking the show. Exuding elegance and authenticity in an embellished wool coat and oversized gloves, she embodied Miuccia Prada’s signature idiosyncrasy perfectly.

Like a teenage girl at the peak of rebelliousness and on the path to self-discovery and understanding, this Miu Miu woman mixed a fancy circle skirt with an oversized hoodie and a jacket that she may have found in a family member’s wardrobe. Throw on some leather boots and sunglasses, and she’s out the door, confident and comfortable in her own skin.

If Miuccia Prada says brown is here to stay, we’re here for it. Especially if it’s in leather with a love-worn effect, and sprinkled with embellishments for contrast. While the Peter Pan collar lends a naive touch, the upturned shirt collar beneath emphasises it. The short hemline does not suggest a sensuous edge, but a child-like, playful one with her limbs covered in tangerine orange tights, complete with Mary Janes.

The myraid of colours and textures in this outfit brings joy and an unabashed sense of confidence and ease. A tangerine pea coat is layered over a moss-coloured knit and blue collared shirt, and then worn atop a pistachio knee-length skirt. The amount of styling possibilities in this single look is endless. And can we talk about the leather bedroom slippers?
