New York Fashion Week Editor's Diary: Sunshine After The Rain, American Style & More

There are extravagant sets, and then there are simple yet impactful sets. Prabal Gurung had three rangoli-style patterns decorating the floor of his catwalk. They were not just a feast for the eyes—strangely, they seemed to calm the soul too.

One of the most symbolic runway finales at New York Fashion Week was also witnessed at Prabal Gurung. Led by sisters Gigi and Bella Hadid, the models emerged from backstage in what seemed like a peaceful—yet purposeful—march, each bearing a flower in their hands.

Back to the topic of sets: Ralph Lauren's villa-style backdrop—reportedly done up in the style of his holiday home in the Caribbean—made me miss the tropical heat of Singapore.

The timelessness of Ralph Lauren's designs can be felt in this collection.

In my opinion, 3.1 Phillip Lim ranks as one of the top collections to come out from New York Fashion Week so far.

Some things will never change: Street-style photographers jostling to get the perfect image of style mavens remains a chaotic affair.

 I've said it before and I will say it again—New York's subway system is a blessing for those without the luxury of time (we sometimes have less than twenty minutes to get from one show to another) and a chauffeur at disposal.

The morning started out cloudy but, hey, at least it wasn't raining.

Lunch break at an dim-sum establishment in New York's Chinatown was a welcome affair—especially for my Asian taste buds.

New York truly comes to life when it is all blue skies and sunny outside. I'm keeping my fingers crossed the weather stays that way for the remainder of my trip!
