New York Fashion Week Editor's Diary: Popcorn, '80s Drama And More

Fernando Garcia and Laura Kim, the co-Creative Directors of Oscar de la Renta, are doing a lovely job modernising a brand best known for its red carpet association. Their partnership reminds me of Pierpaolo Piccioli and Maria Grazia Chiuri's ex-partnership at Valentino. Here's hoping Garcia and Kim will go from strength-to-strength.

Popcorn that was more than ankle-deep covered the entire show space floor of Calvin Klein 205W39NYC. It was a great surprise and an eye-opener at first... until you start wondering about how much food was wasted in the process.

That said, Raf Simons and his partner-in-crime Pieter Mulier delivered their strongest collection for Calvin Klein 205W39NYC yet.

Coach 1941 worked with artists to create a mural outside the show venue. It was a particularly cold day, so kudos to the team for completing the artwork in the blistering chill and wind.

I immediately thought of the Blair Witch Project the moment I saw the Coach 1941 set. I'm totally digging the evolution of the brand.

Jason Wu presented his last collection for BOSS this fashion week and the collection was unfussy and great for women of all ages.

Ashley Graham has become a catwalk regular at Michael Kors and it's always heartening to see an established designer spreading the message of diversity with his casting choices. It is a timely reminder that fashion is ultimately meant to be consumed by the masses.

The Park Avenue Armory is one cavernous space and by choosing to seat his audience in two straight rows, Marc Jacobs heightened the effect of his collection.

Marc Jacobs fall/winter 2018 is by far my most favourite collection at New York Fashion Week. Riffs on the '80s aside, there was something about the silhouettes and colours used that reminded me of  past collections by the late Yves Saint Laurent. I guess I'm old-school that way...

Times Square is chaotic, messy and full of tourists, but I really can't think of a better way to put a full-stop to yet another New York Fashion Week.
