From Manhattan to Malibu, Beverly Hills to Bora Bora, Michael Kors took inspiration from exotic holiday destinations for its spring/summer 2018 collection. So it was only appropriate that the brand flew selected press and social media influencers, including Andrea Chong (@dreachong), to Bangkok to see their Spring 2018 collection up close for a preview of the best pieces to shop in Singapore.

The Michael Kors Collection had a relaxed attitude with sarongs, kimonos and pajamas juxtaposed against oversized menswear tailoring. Think: Laid-back jackets, trenches, shirts, shorts and trousers all in balmy soft pastels such as rosewater, wisteria and cornflower—perfect for sunny Singapore. Some of our faves included the tie-dye and tropical palm prints like coloured shadows on linen shirts and skirts that belonged in a cabana. Eveningwear got glamorous with silver sequins splashed across fluid dresses and wide palazzo trousers like tinseled platinum palms. And to top it off were wonderful floral garlands made of white hand cut plastic discs and finished with crocodile sandals for breezy walks on the boulevard of chic.

Over on the Michael Michael Kors side, things got seriously nautical with a clean palette of white, blue, red, a cacophony of stripes and wonderful bold, brass buttons. Other pieces that were sure to be on everyone's shopping lists in Singapore were wrap-around dresses imprinted with polka dots and graphic lines; Super sexy, short, swingy dresses with bold florals; and virginal white lace dresses punched through with grommets for a touch of edge. Versatile tailored blazers smartened all the looks up, while a strategically placed pea coat or trench coat gave protection from chilly spring days. Understated slides and espadrille wedges gave each look a laid-back, wear-anywhere appeal which worked for the office or a day out with the girls.
