Hermès Celebrates Its Iconic Chaîne d’ancre With A Special Exhibition In Singapore
Fine and high jewellery of the ages.
Logos and icons are more than just a design element for luxury brands, they are a testament to the House’s artistry and heritage. Starting 27 February 2024, Hermès will commemorate its Chaîne d’ancre motif in a special jewellery exhibition showcasing 58 creations across the decades since its inception in 1937.

The idea for this classic oval shape with a bridge down the middle was introduced by Robert Dumas, son-in-law of founder Thierry Hermès, after a stroll along the Normandy port where the ships’ anchor chains caught his eye. A year later, the first Chaîne d’ancre bracelet in silver was born. It was a hit thanks to its sophisticated yet sporty look, which was very much in the Maison’s wheelhouse and its equestrian roots.

Now, the chains for the fine and high jewellery collections come in several sizes and precious metals—white and rose gold—set with gems ranging from black spinels, sapphires, diamonds and more for men and women.
Under Pierre Hardy, creative director of Hermès jewellery, the chain has been reimagined in contemporary forms such as elongated links that act as a double ring, edgy ear cuffs and even a minaudière—a decorative handbag—crafted in white gold and diamonds, which also comes in a necklace version made of silver.

The Chaîne d’ancre exhibition will take place from 27 February to 3 March 2024 at the Hermès boutique at Liat Towers, where guests may discover the history of the motif and the plethora of dazzling creations.
