Wear A legacy And An Endearing Story

They say every piece of jewellery tells a story. The Legacy collection by Singapore’s leading homegrown jeweller, Poh Heng, is no exception.

Drawing from Singapore’s rich Peranakan heritage, Poh Heng’s resident designer Celine Goh has reimagined the latest jewellery collection, which builds upon the success of the first Poh Heng Legacy collection.

Launched last year, Poh Heng Legacy was inspired by the story of its founder and Singapore’s Peranakan heritage. Each piece of jewellery in the Legacy collection features brilliant cut diamonds set in a splendid 18K gold, to form an exquisite constellation of unique and intricate Peranakan motifs. 

In this year’s Christmas rendition, Celine marries classic baroque Peranakan design with modern simplicity. This contemporary take on traditional Peranakan jewellery is a celebration of Singapore—its unique cultural identity and heritage of the Peranakans. Unmistakably, each piece is inspired by the elegant floral motif on ceramic tiles found in Peranakan homes. 

Featuring brilliant cut diamonds set in 18K white or rose gold, with sapphires or rubies, Poh Heng Legacy—Christmas Edition is available with matching earrings, pendant and bracelet. This new series exudes a younger, lighter vibe with a hallmark intricate floral motif.  Her latest pieces are guided by the philosophy to make the collection wearable for women of all ages, complementing them effortlessly.

Tingkat — a love story 

You can also see the collection at Rediscover Your Legacy – The Story of Singapore’s Peranakan Heirlooms, a pop-up exhibition held in conjunction with STB’s SingapoRediscovers campaign. 

From Nov 25 to Dec 31, Poh Heng’s flagship boutique at Orchard Shopping Centre will see its window display transformed into the facade of a Peranakan house.

The boutique will display vintage Peranakan jewellery dating back to the 1950s from their vaults, alongside the Legacy collection. Jewellery featuring Intan diamonds, jade and pearl will be on display. Among the interesting ornaments are two gold bolster caps produced by Poh Heng in the 1950s, where Poh Heng’s trademark sits proudly in the centre of each piece.

Traditional pieces include gold belts (Tali Pinggang) and sets of chained brooches (Kerosang). A selection of jewellery will also be presented on a pink teak dresser, where its “mirror” will screen a short, heartwarming love story, Tingkat.
