Step Back In Time With RISIS's New Exhibition This National Day

The Singaporean jewellery brand takes us on a journey of discovery and imagination this National Day

To celebrate its 40th anniversary, Singaporean jewellery brand RISIS is taking us back in time to rediscover and reimagine its history with an exhibition at Raffles City Shopping Centre. And, it certainly has a wealth of information to share.

For example, did you know that the brand handcrafted the trophy for the Singapore Formula 1 Grand Prix? Or that the brand has been toying with plating everyday items with gold for a while now? (One of their treasures on display is a gold-plated croissant!) The personal stories behind these paraphernalia are rich and often humorous, and definitely educational.

Peculiar knick-knacks aside, the brand has also collaborated with two talented artists for this exhibition: Terrarium artist Charles Loh of Mossingarden and BAZAAR contributor/watercolour botanical artist Lucinda Law. Loh has specially created two installations showing off RISIS's signature Zodiac Animal sculptures, while Law has been commissioned to prodcue six paintings of orchids, incorporating the brand's signature blooms.

“Luxury goods have traditionally been associated with companies from the west, but we have reached an inflection point where brands created within Asia are spreading all over the world,” explained Navin Amarasuriya, director of RISIS, of the exhibition. “We are one voice in that song.”

The Rediscovering RISIS: 40 Years of Crafting Asian Stories exhibition will run from 4 to 17 August 2016 at Raffles City Shopping Centre, Atrium. Opening hours: 10am to 10pm, Monday to Sunday.
