5 Cool Celebrity Friendships You May Not Have Known About

Everyone may be looking up to Taylor Swift’s well-publicised all-female group of friends (Karlie! Cara! Gigi!) as the ultimate #squadgoal, but did you know about these five other high profile friendships in the world of celebrity? Read on to find out who's in whose good books.

1. Katy and Rihanna

Katy Perry might not be clamouring to be part of Taylor’s gang any time soon—her tweet about Regina George in sheep’s clothing is rumoured to be about Swift—but she certainly is chummy with fellow musical megastar Rihanna. Recently the pair skipped the VMAs in favour of partying together in New York and, given all the chaos that occurred during the award show, we’re not so sure that was such a bad idea.

2. Selena and Demi

Fellow Disney stars Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato have had a pretty tumultuous relationship through the years. The two first met on the set of Barney and Friends, and their careers have been intertwined ever since. Both stars have had their own Disney shows, but the once-inseparable pair’s friendship started to strain when Demi unfollowed Selena on Twitter in 2014. She explained the decision to Watch What Happens Live's Andy Cohen, saying, “People change and people grow apart.” Fortunately, both stars appear to have kissed and made up recently, with Selena wishing Demi on her birthday, on Twitter.

3. Karlie and Jourdan

If models are supposed to be highly jealous of one another, this fabulous pair must not have gotten the memo. Among other things, Karlie and Jourdan share the same birthday, and the list of similarities goes on from there. Since bonding during a Topshop photoshoot in 2008, the two Victoria’s Secret models often cook together, eat together and, according to an i-D magazine interview, wear each other’s shoes.

4. Paris and Nicole

This one's a bit of a #throwback. The original Kardashian-Jenners, Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie were the household names most commonly plastered on magazines and tabloids in the early 2000s. The notorious duo even had their own reality show “The Simple Life”, in which the spoilt socialites tried their hand at less glamourous lifestyles. Despite its success, the show came to a screeching halt when the two had a falling out in 2005. They appear to have reconnected in now, but it’s doubtful that we’ll see a repeat of their amusing past shenanigans any time soon.

5. Nicki Minaj and Beyonce

In case you missed it: How jaw-dropping was the music video for Nicki Minaj's “Feeling Myself”? As far as we know, the relationship between the reigning queens of pop may be little more than amiably professional at this point, but the chemistry between the two during collaborations is undeniably electric. Between “Feeling Myself” and the explosive remix of Beyonce’s “Flawless” we’re dying to see the two team up again.
