Carolina Herrera's Nephew Was Shockingly Killed In Venezuela

The designer blames the government for his death in her latest Instagram post

The nephew of Carolina Herrera is believed to have been assassinated in Venezuela on Thursday of this week. According to WWD, Reinaldo Herrera and his colleague Fabrizio Mendoza, were discovered in an abandoned vehicle on a highway that connects Caracas to the Caribbean coast after a supposed kidnapping.

The Venezuelan-born designer has so far remained quiet on the political unrest in her home country but, following her family tragedy, has spoken out.

Herrera took to her Instagram account to share the news with her 1.7m followers and blame the Venezuelan government for her nephew's death.

Below a picture of herself and her nephew, she wrote, "Thank you so much for all your thoughtful messages. The family and I appreciate your kindness. Our only hope is that the tragic assassination of our young nephew, Reinaldo and his colleague, Fabrizio will serve to mitigate the terrible carnage and murders that are committed against our youth in Venezuela. The Electoral Results must be respected. The Communist Dictatorship must go."

There have been countless demonstrations calling for the resignation of President Nicolas Madura, and more than 30 protestors have died so far.
