A Madonna biopic is in the works, and honestly why has it taken this long? Universal just picked up Blond Ambition, which will be produced by Fifty Shades of Grey's Michael De Luca, per The Hollywood Reporter.
The story begins in early 1980s New York, shortly after Madonna's move from Michigan in 1978. It follows Madge as she works on her first album, navigates a male-dominated business in which women are often mistreated, and struggles to balance her love life with the early days of fame.
The script by first-time writer Elyse Hollander topped last year's Black List, a ranking of Hollywood's most popular unproduced screenplays among industry insiders.
