Prince Harry Introduced Meghan Markle To The Queen
She didn't have to wait as long as Kate Middleton did
Since she started dating Prince Harry about a year ago, Meghan Markle has already met prominent members of the royal family, like Prince Charles, Prince William, and the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton. But it wasn't until this month that the Suits star finally met Queen Elizabeth II.
The meeting took place on September 3, the day after the couple returned from their three-week trip to Botswana, Us Weekly reports. Harry brought Markle up to Balmoral Castle in Scotland, Her Majesty's summer residence, to meet his grandmother. His father Prince Charles and stepmother Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, were also staying at their Scottish estate, Birkhall, seven miles away.
"It went well. It’ll no doubt be the first of many encounters," a source close to Harry told Us.
“The entire weekend was a success,” the insider added. “[Harry] was able to introduce someone he loves to someone he cares for deeply.”
Though it took over a year for Markle to meet the Queen, her wait was hardly as long as Kate Middleton's. The Duchess of Cambridge waited five years after she started dating Prince William before she came face to face with the sovereign.
