A Christmas Prince

How did we get to the end of the year so fast? If you're still wondering where the time went, there's nothing like a good schmaltzy holiday movie to help you get into the Christmas spirit, fast. From beloved favourites like Love Actually on HBO to original content from Netflix and Amazon, there's a movie out there for everyone... even for those who can't wait for the season to be over.

Get into the Christmas spirit with:

A Christmas Prince

The film about aspiring journalist Amber (Rose McIver) who is sent overseas to get the scoop on Prince Richard (Ben Lamb), a supposed playboy who is poised to be King of Aldovia, has become a sleeper hit, thanks to a mix of cheesiness, feel-good holiday vibes and a so-bad-it's-good storyline. You'll need to suspend your sense of disbelief, but hey, 'tis the season, right?

Christmas Inheritance

Another Netflix made-for-TV Christmas movie, another Hallmark-worthy production. This time, socialite Ellen (Eliza Taylor) is tasked by her father to visit his hometown, Snow Falls, where she has to learn the value of hard work and helping others, before she can inherit his multi-million company. Naturally, lots of city-girl-in-a-small-town hijinks ensue, complete with a love triangle and, of course, heartwarming moments galore.

Go "Bah, humbug" with:

Curb Your Enthusiasm

The Emmy-winning series returns after six years, and all you need to know is that its lead, Larry David said this: "As I’ve said many times, when one has the opportunity to annoy someone, one should do so.” Grinches of the world, unite!

Dark

A 10-part mystery thriller about missing teenagers, burned corpses and ominous forests... This German drama is riveting, chilling and, well, dark. Nothing like a dose of the supernatural to get you into the zone, eh?

El Camino Christmas

Just because it has Christmas in the title doesn't mean it's all tinsel lights and fuzzy feels. This dark comedy by the director of Hidden Figures features an ensemble cast including Dax Shepard and Santa Clause himself, Tim Allen, and strikes just the right amount of Scrooge and Santa.
