Currently ranked No. 1 in the world, Serena Williams is the women's singles champion of the century. Since first becoming world No. 1 in 2002, she has been champion of Wimbledon, the Australian Open, the French Open, the WTA Championships and Olympic women's singles and doubles; it's little wonder that she's considered as the greatest female tennis player of all time.

This year, she also opened the catwalk show for Australian sports bra brand Berlei, a label that she has worn for most of her professional career. We caught up with the champion to ask her 10 burning questions...

Harper's Bazaar: What was the first record you ever bought?

Mariah Carey: Vision of Love.

What is your favourite film?

MC: How to Marry a Millionaire.

Irrational fear of...?

MC: Being in an enclosed space. I'm very claustrophobic!

What is your favourite childhood book?

MC: Fablehaven Series.

What is your signature dance move?

MC: I love pirouettes.

People are always surprised that you...?

MC: They are surprised by my humour and that I am a bit of a prankster.

Who was the first tennis player you were inspired by? 

MC: Arthur Ashe.

What was the book that changed your life?

MC: Who Moved My Cheese? by Dr Spencer Johnson.

What is your favourite era in sport?

MC: The 1988 Olympics.

Who is your sporting hero?

MC: Mohammed Ali.
