The founder of The Blonde Salad has turned what started as a fashion blog in 2009 into a burgeoning global retail business that carries, among other things, her own clothing and accessories brand, Chiara Ferragni Collection, launched in 2013. The BAZAAR cover girl and multi-hyphenate has 17.7 million Instagram followers and is one of the key opinion leaders in the global fashion scene.

Unapologetically beautiful, the American singer advocates body positivity and is a proud LGBTQ ally.

She’s one of the most sought-after plus-size models and television presenter, and her TED Talks on body positivity moved audiences with her stance on self-acceptance and body image. Naomi Watanabe won our hearts with her antics and comic timing as one of the faces of luxury Japanese skincare brand SK-II. In the brand’s latest promo videos, the Japanese comedienne satirised every beauty trope used in the beauty industry. The beauty influencer with 8.9 million Instagram followers is also known for her daring hair and makeup looks.

Gigi, Bella and Anwar Hadid, children of famed Jordanian-American real estate developer Mohamed Hadid and Dutch model Yolanda van den Herik, are one of pop culture’s most famous siblings trio. Loved for their style, sass and social-media savviness, all three are fashion darlings signed to world-renowned modelling agency IMG Models.

Vetements’ designs capture the spirit of youth and introduce the street into our sartorial vernacular. Punctuating modern fashion with its playful designs, the brand plants itself at the cutting edge of style. In 2016, it collaborated with not one, but 18 brands during Couture Week.

Forever changing footwear as we know it, American musician Kanye West properly created one of the truly fashionable trainers of all time with American sportswear brand adidas in 2015. One of the most expensive sports shoes you will ever own—with prices going up to US$6,000 on the secondary market—Yeezys are also some of the most coveted.

The 2010s gave us a reason to brave the harshest chills. In what is one of the decade’s chicest and best-executed example of luxury fashion adopting streetwear, Italian sportswear label Moncler’s House of Genius collaborations (launched in 2018) have seen the brand partner with fashion’s brightest stars—from Valentino’s Pierpaolo Piccioli to British designers Richard Quinn and Craig Green—who have put their own irreverent spin on the brand.

Appearing on countless American talk shows and award ceremonies, and with their provocatively-titled song, “Boy With Luv”—with American singer Halsey—that broke the internet at 597 million views, South Korea’s hottest boy band of this decade is easily The Bangtan Boys, otherwise more famously known as BTS.

It is in this decade that South Korean beauty and cosmetics conglomerate Amorepacific revolutionised the global beauty game with the cushion foundation. Constantly developing award-winning advancements and breakthroughs in skincare at its R&D facilities, it is no wonder the brands under it, such as Sulwhasoo, HERA and LANEIGE, have all reached new financial highs in the last 10 years.

56. K-Beauty Redefining Beauty Standards

PSY galloped down the streets of Gangnam in 2012 with his song “Gangnam Style” and paved the path for K-Pop in the 2010s. Never could we have imagined its significance or influence in modern music. Today, the music video has a current view count of 3.4 billion—the highest in South Korean’s music history.

The original Supermodels Carla Bruni, Claudia Schiffer, Helena Christensen, Cindy Crawford and Naomi Campbell reunited for a special catwalk tribute to the late Italian fashion god Gianni Versace by closing the spectacular Versace spring/summer 2018 show.

If the turnout of their sold-out world tours and impressive fan base—of 21.4 million on Instagram—is not enough of an indication of BLACKPINK’s popularity, then surely the events that came after their collaboration with British pop star Dua Lipa are. Their song “Kiss and Make Up” quickly became the anthem of summer 2019 and they became the first-ever female K-Pop group to enter the Official UK Top 40. There really is no contest here—they are the hottest K-Pop girl group to come out of the decade.
