Cate Blanchett has made another stylish statement for sustainability in red-carpet dressing.

On Thursday night, the Oscar-winning actress attended the Fragrance Foundation awards in New York City, where she re-wore the plunging black Armani Privé gown for the fourth time. While the gown has always included intricate detailing, her recent iteration of the shimmering, upcycled piece adds some surprising color.

In addition to the black sequined bodice—which features a plunging halter neckline with chest panels, an A-line skirt, and side cutouts—the Tár actress replaced the gown's previous lace underlay with sheer mesh fabric, which was covered in a black diamond pattern and embroidered with multi-colored beads in an art-deco starburst pattern. She completed the ensemble with black heels and minimalistic jewelry, including Louis Vuitton earrings, while wearing her blonde lob in beachy waves paired with lovely peach blush.

The actress last wore the custom Privé gown to the 2023 Screen Actors Guild Awards last month, styling the sequined bodice with a minimalistic lace underlay that rose to her neck and covered her shoulders. Per Blanchett's stylist Elizabeth Stewart, the lace was repurposed from the original all-lace Armani gown the star wore to the 2014 Golden Globes and to a 2018 Cannes premiere.

The actress previously discussed her tendency to repeat red-carpet looks in a Business of Fashion interview, saying that she re-wears garments to both promote sustainability and defy the unspoken rules of red-carpet fashion—one of them being to never step out in a look you’ve been photographed in before.

“It should be completely unremarkable, the idea of re-wearing (clothes), because we do it in our daily lives. We do it out of habit, we do it out of choice, we do it out of necessity,” she said. “I think that there’s a lot of people like me who are tired of the churn. But who also want to keep the industry healthy in all its dimensions. There’s a chance here to redefine the notion of luxury. I think that it’s bringing back the cherished love aspect of it.”
