The Italian fashion house Bottega Veneta may be best known for its leather goods, but its homewares line, launched in 2006, expands year on year. From furniture and soft-furnishings to home fragrances, tableware and lighting, each of the designs is modern and luxurious with clean lines and sumptuous textures.

In a surprising but rather wonderful collaboration, Dolce & Gabbana has joined forces with Smeg to create a completely unique collection of fridges. There are 100 hand-painted designs to choose from, each inspired by mediaeval Sicilian horse carts that were painted with pictorial scenes in order educate illiterate villagers.

Images of Fendi's 'Armchair of a thousand eyes' flooded our Instagram feed when it launched at the Salone del Mobile in Milan last year. Designed by the Brazilian duo the Campana brothers for Fendi, the chair is made up of more than 100 of the brand's furry 'bag bugs'. At £50,000 it doesn't come cheap, but it is guaranteed to be an eye-catching design classic.
