Everything You Need To Know About The Fyre Festival Scandal

Fyre Festival organisers have postponed their event on the day that the luxury musical and arts extravaganza was due to take place. Guests had already arrived on the private island in the Bahamas, after paying between $1,500 and $12,000 for a ticket.

The news was confirmed via Fyre's official Twitter platform.

The event has been strongly criticised by guests who arrived at the venue to find an unfinished site, complete with stacks of rubbish, half-built tents and little food or alcohol. Revellers have gone as far to describe it as a millennial version of "Lord of the Flies".

The event, which was endorsed by Kendall Jenner, Bella Hadid, Alessandra Ambrosio, Emily Ratajkowski in a series of pictures earlier this year, pledged to be a "cultural moment created from an alchemic blend of music, art and food". Hosted on a private island in the Bahamas, the starting price for a weekend package came at $1,500, which included 'curated meals', luxury accommodation and flights to and from Miami.

Organised by Ja Rule, the line-up promised performances from Blink-182, Major Lazer and Skepta, while Kanye West was due to bring numerous artists from his record label, G.O.O.D. Music.

However, after numerous flight delays, guests arrived to discover that Blink 182 had pulled out after concerns that the band would not have been equipped to deliver a strong performance.

But it got worse. Revellers vented on social media that their promised luxury villas were, in fact, half-built tents used in situations of disaster relief.

In reality, the venue resembled more of an apocalyptic wasteland than a luxury festival site. Mattresses were left strewn across the beach, with boxes were stacked up next to them.

The food on offer looked somewhat disappointing.

Fyre Festival turned off its Instagram comments option as guests voiced their upset thick and fast.
