Prince Harry Gave Meghan Markle A Special Anniversary Present
You might've already seen it at Trooping the Colour
On Saturday, Meghan Markle took a brief break from maternity leave to attend Trooping the Colour, the queen's annual birthday celebrations, with the rest of the royal family. As she waved to the crowds upon arrival, eagle-eyed fans spotted a third ring on her finger that wasn't her engagement ring or wedding band. Royal watchers wondered, was it a push present from her husband, Prince Harry? After all, she had just given birth to their first child, Archie, a month prior.
Good guess, but no. The piece of jewelry is an anniversary gift from Harry, People confirms. It's an eternity ring, a design that features precious stones (usually diamonds) all around the band and is usually given to commemorate a milestone, such as an anniversary or the birth of a baby. Both cases apply to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who just celebrated one year of marriage on May 19 and welcomed a son on May 6. Fan account Meghan's mirror pointed out that Meghan's ring has a "delicate pave-set band."
Meghan's eternity ring is in good company with the other two sparklers on her ring finger. The first is her engagement ring, which she first debuted when she and Harry announced their plans to marry in November 2017. It features a center stone from Botswana, where they first traveled together as a couple, flanked by two smaller diamonds from the late Princess Diana's personal collection.
The second is her wedding ring: a Welsh gold band made from Cleave & Company. It's a gift from the queen. Harry's band, made from the same royal jeweler, is platinum with a textured finish.
Eternity rings are nothing new for royals. According to People, Prince William gave one to Kate Middleton after their first child Prince George was born too.
