Prince William Hosts Princess Diana Award Reception At Kensington Palace

The Diana Award honors the important work young people are doing around the globe

Prince William is continuing the work of Princess Diana.

As reported by People, the Duke of Cambridge attended an event at Kensington Palace this week in his late mother's name to hand out Diana Awards, which recognise the achievements of young people around the globe who have made impressive contributions to society.

The chief executive of the Diana Award charity, Tessy Ojo, told People, "We celebrated 20 wonderful young people from across the world—young people we believe truly embody the qualities of Princess Diana. They are just incredible and changing the world and defying the odds to tackle some major issues."

The Duke of Cambridge hosted the inspirational #2019LegacyAwards recipients from the Diana Awards, for tea at Kensington Palace.

The Diana Award is a continuation of Princess Diana’s legacy and her belief that young people have the power to change the world for the better.

Taking place every two years, the Legacy Awards celebrate the achievements of 20 outstanding young leaders, visionaries and role models from across the world, aged 12-25, who have demonstrated their ability to inspire and mobilise new generations to serve their communities.

The Award recipients will have access to a two-year development programme which will look to enhance leadership, community development, social entrepreneurship and technology.

After the event, Ojo shared with People that William addressed the group and said, "My mother would be so proud of you."
