Team BAZAAR Dreams Up The Perfect Holiday

It's that time of the year again when everyone in the office are dreaming of their next holiday and adventures to be had outside of the motherland.

Here, we share our team's travel bucket list,  from tropical beachside getaways to wintery wonderlands. Read on to find out what they had to say.

Kenneth Goh, Editor-In-Chief

I've always wanted to go on safari every since I watched the great Meryl Streep in Out of Africa. The romance of watching beautiful wildlife in their own habitat, the setting sun, the beautiful colours and textures, and all the while in the great outdoors has always been my dream to be at one with Mother Nature.

I've been obsessed with Corfu Island ever since reading Gerald Durrell's My Family and Other Animals. And now that I have small kids of my own, I can't think of a better way to spend the day than tramping through nature in barefooted wonder - be it an unkempt garden or a rocky shore.

Visiting Cambodia isn’t so much on my travel bucket list as visiting all parts of Cambodia is. I’ve vacationed in the country housing the famous Hindu temple, Ang Kor Wat, several times and I’ve yet to experience all facets of the wonderful, culture-rich nation. On my next trip there, I want to visit Koh Rong island in the Sihanoukville Province of Cambodia. Think sandy coves, coral reefs, palm trees and waterfalls. It’s the perfect respite from the hustle and bustle of Singapore—I can already smell the sweet and salty ocean breeze.

Windy Aulia, Creative Director

A couple of seasons ago I was in Tuscany's Chianti region one summer for a photoshoot that turned out to be a revelation. I thought: No wonder Renaissance masters created masterpieces, Italian countryside is truly inspiring. The light, the greeneries, the people, the wine, oh the wine! And let's not forget the Florentine steak that's birthed in this rustic region. Since then, I made it a mission to bring my family there to experience what I experienced.

I really need to escape to a faraway, uninhabited island to recharge, so my dream destination is the Whitsunday Islands located in Australia. This beautiful tropical paradise, located in the heart of the Great Barrier Reef on the Queensland coast, is made up of 74 island wonders. I plan to take it slow on this trip, to soak in the natural vibes while getting pampered with massage treatments on the beach, and visiting some of the cafes and restaurants there to feast on some of their local fare.

My bucket list holiday will have to be a winter holiday. Getting to sleep under the stars admiring the Northern Lights casting their magical glow sounds perfect to me. It will be especially fantastic as it will allow me to enjoy incredible views of the Aurora Borealis from the warmth and comfort all from the thermal glass igloo at the Hotel Igloo Village Kakslauttanen, Finland. While I'm there, I would also like to experience all sorts of winter activities from reindeer safari to skiing and even connect with the local culture and people there.

Perhaps because I've been listening to Lana del Rey on repeat for weeks, I'm dreaming of driving through sun-soaked California in a vintage convertible with the top down, ending the road trip with a stay in one of the treehouses at the Post Ranch Inn in Big Sur. With the gorgeous skylights, it'll be sleeping-under-the-stars dreaminess minus the bugs

Gracia Phang, Fashion Stylist

My dad's always off on an adventure somewhere in the world, and one of the places he's been which I'd really love to visit is Mongolia. To explore the vast landscape, amazing wildlife and culture with my husband would be a dream.

Angelyn Kwek, Associate Beauty Editor

You can thank Outlander for imprinting the mental image of moodily strolling through the Scottish moors while the winds blow back my hair all drama-like, but in all seriousness, I’ve always had a hankering to visit the Highlands. Edinburgh Castle is my first stop, as I’m a nerd who loves old buildings that have a rich history (bonus if they’re haunted!). Then I’ll embark on an epic road trip that’ll take me past the famous Loch Ness and up to Inverness, before traipsing back down to Glasgow to soak in the vibrant arts and culture scene.

Archaeological sites, beautiful architecture, idyllic villages, amazing food, scenic wonders and warm hospitality—Turkey, with its many fascinating facets, has long made it to my travel bucket list. My must-do in Turkey: Fly in a hot air balloon ride through the rose canyon of Cappadocia, of course! I'll live my travel fantasies vicariously through Instagram until I find the time to visit this magical place someday.

I definitely want to visit South Korea, if not for the scenery and food (tteokbokki, bulgogi, Korean ramen!!), then for the fine weather and handsome oppas.

I am the ultimate beach bum as all I need is the sun, sand and sea. Where will I be able to frolick like a sun goddess then the Carribean Island of Turks and Caicos. The combination of white sands and crystal blue waters makes this destination the perfect setting for me to live my island boy fantasy, as I disconnect and rejuvenate. As I sip on a lovely cocktail and slather some sunscreen, I want to vacation like a Kardashian!

Ever since my mom went to Vietnam for a work trip and told me all about the beautiful country, I’ve wanted to go and see it for myself. From the majestic limestone islands at Ha Long Bay to the picturesque red-hued sand dunes and effervescent city of Ho Chi Minh with endless activities to suit my fancy, I’m sure I’ll have a ball of a time.

I don't know about you, but a destination I'd love to explore would be Italy. If it were up to me, I'd do a round-trip with a close girlfriend heading first to Milan as its the country's fashion capital. Followed by a visit to Verona, where we'd head down to see the infamous Casa di Giulietta and leave a handwritten note in the courtyard's wall, 'Letters To Juliet' style. We'd then end the trip off at Rome because we wouldn't want to miss out on the opportunity to take Instagram-worthy photos at all the places Lizzie McGuire visited in the iconic childhood film, from the Trevi Fountain to the Tivoli Gardens.
