The power, convenience and efficiency of video editing consoles are now possible on iPad with Final Cut Pro. Along with the new application, Apple will introduce a new jog wheel, making the video editing process faster and more intuitive. You will now be able to navigate the Magnetic Timeline, move clips and make fast frame-accurate edits with the tap of a finger.

With Live Drawing, you’ll now be able to draw and write directly on top of video content using Apple Pencil. And hovering the Apple Pencil on iPad Pro with M2 will allow you to quickly skim and preview footage without touching the screen. Team the iPad with a Magic Keyboard or Smart Keyboard Folio to use key commands we’ve all grown accustomed to with desktops. Thanks to the iPad Pro’s 12.9-inch Liquid Retina XDR display, you’ll be able to apply colour grades with greater accuracy using Reference Mode.

One of our favourite new features has got to be the pro camera mode. Video creators can now shoot high-quality video, in portrait or landscape orientation, monitor audio and available recording time as well as manually control settings like focus, exposure and white balance. In other words, creators can now capture, edit and publish from one single device while on the go—on iPad Pro with M2, you’ll be able to record in ProRes. The introduction of multicam video editing is a game changer—and time saver. With this feature, clips can be synchronised and edited together automatically. You’ll also be able to switch angles in a multicam clip with the touch of a finger.

Here’s another favourite feature of ours: Fast cut with machine learning. Harnessing the power of Apple silicon, machine learning speeds up time-consuming editing tasks. For instance, Scene Removal Mask will allow creators to quickly remove or replace the background behind a subject in a clip without using a green screen—or rotoscoping. Another great feature is Voice Isolation, which enables users to quickly remove background noise from audio recordings.

Pro Graphics, Effects, and Audio

Final Cut Pro subscriptions on iPad will include a vast library of professional graphics, effects and audio for greater storytelling. The library includes impressive HDR background, customisable animated patterns and professional soundtracks that automatically adjust to the length of a video.

Import and Export

Final Cut Pro also makes importing and exporting supported media from Files or Photos a breeze. You’ll also be able to import projects created in iMovie for iOS 4, and export Final Cut Pro projects to Mac.

Logic Pro for iPad is touted to be an all-in-one professional music creation app, and rightfully so. The Multi-Touch feature is also available here, allowing you to play software instruments and interact intuitively with controls on top of navigating complex projects with pinch-to-zoom and swipe-to-scroll. And with Plug-in Tile, you’ll have the most useful controls at your fingertips. Logic Pro will also be able to take advantage of the five studio-quality mics on iPad Pro, enabling you to capture voice or instruments. When paired with an Apple Pencil, Smart Keyboard or Magic Keyboard, you’ll be able to unlock more features.

Music producers will be able to chop and flip samples, program beats and bass lines as well as craft custom drum kits with Logic Pro’s beat-making and production tools. Beat Breakers, a new time and pitch-morphing plug-in, allows users to thoroughly reshape and shuffle sounds.

Quick Sampler, on the other hand, can cut and transform audio samples into completely new, playable instruments. There’s also Step Sequencer, which lets users program drum patterns, basslines and melodies—automating plug-ins, too.

Drum Machine Designer allows for the creation of custom drum kits by applying samples and unique plug‑ins to any drum pad. And Live Loops will enable users to quickly build arrangements by mixing and matching musical loops whenever inspiration strikes.

As with Final Cut Pro on iPad, importing and exporting files using Logic Pro on the device is a breeze. From exporting finished songs in a variety of compressed and lossless audio formats as well as to Final Cut Pro as music for a video, the possibilities are endless.

From 24 May, Wednesday 2023, Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro for iPad will be available on the App Store for S$6.99 per month or S$69 per year, with a one-month free trial. Final Cut Pro is compatible with M1 chip iPad models or later.
