Just in time for Singapore Art Gallery Weekend, global art advisory Metis Art has announced the return of its foundational course aimed at introducing art enthusiasts to the world of art collection. Specially designed to make the art world more accessible, The Tetrad features a four-pronged curriculum focusing on the history, ecosystem, economics, trends and theories of art - a perfect introductory course for new collectors.

Formerly held at exclusive members' clubs such as Straits Clan, Mandala Club and Figment right here in Singapore, as well as Mello House in Perth, Metis has partnered with +39 Art Space to host their attendees this season, and is offering a 50% special discount on regular course fees in honour of Singapore Art Gallery Weekend. Additionally, in support of non-profit art organisations in Singapore, half of all course fees for The Tetrad will be donated to the NTU Centre for Contemporary Arts Residencies.

Carefully crafted to prepare newbies to confidently navigate the complexities of art collection as both patrons of local arts organisations and personal collectors themselves, The Tetrad will be led by Metis Founder and Director Christina J. Chua and Senior Consultant Nara Latip. Using accessible language and terminologies, The Tetrad aims to demystify the world of fine art by offering broad brushstrokes of knowledge about general art history, explaining the ecosystem of galleries, art fairs and museums, breaking down the rules of art pricing, valuation and investment, as well as providing an overview of current art trends and theory.

The Tetrad promises to pave the way for Singapore's next generation of art collectors by making art education accessible, combined with cutting-edge market insights. For anyone interested in stepping into this world, you can sign up for the course via Metis' website. Priced at $400 per pax for four 2-hour sessions, attendees will be treated to a set lunch, drinks and a curator or artist’s tour at the partnering non-profit. Singapore attendees will also receive a tax deduction of 250% for S$200.
