The botanist Luther Burbank once declared that ‘Flowers always make people better, happier, and more helpful; they are sunshine, food and medicine for the soul.’ It is a sentiment that Nida Shay has taken to heart. Dedicating her spring collection to poetry-filled evenings spent with her father in his ‘enchanted’ garden in Lahore, she is keen to replicate these childhood memories with her own young sons. This is evoked in wintery blues that echo serene, starry night skies predominate, with bursts of colourful embroidery sprinkled liberally across the collection like fairy dust.
