First introduced in 2010 as part of its autumn/winter 2011 collection by then creative director Riccardo Tisci, the iconic Givenchy Antigona Soft bag has now been reimagined for the modern man as part of the House’s fall/winter 2020 lineup—which first appeared on the runways in Paris.
This is the third rendition of the iconic bag, but a first for the French luxury label’s menswear line. Inspired by the heroine Antigone in Greek mythology, who was described as a strong, unyielding feminine character, the Antigona bag has become a staple in many women’s wardrobes since its inception. It was first reinterpreted for Givenchy’s pre-fall 2020 womenswear collection, which debuted in the lookbook as the Antigona Soft.
