Earlier this year, Gentle Bones announced the launch of his self-titled album, featuring tracks in collaboration with Benjamin Kheng, Tay Kewei, Karencici, Clara Benin, gamaliél, and lewloh. And now, the Singaporean singer-songwriter unveils his final collaborator of the year, and it's none other than JJ Lin. The two artistes first teased fans last Sunday by posting now-deleted images of each other on their respective Instagram accounts, alluding to a possible musical collaboration.

Titled 'At Least I Had You', the song explores one's existence in a world filled with confusion and insecurities. This track also marks Lin's first-ever English collaboration with a male Singaporean artiste, which is out now on all major music streaming platforms.

The Singaporean singer-songwriters will be premiering their highly anticipated music video for ‘At Least I Had You’ exclusively on Channel 5 on Monday, 3 December 2021 at 7.26pm. If you miss it, you can watch the full video on Gentle Bones' YouTube and Facebook pages at 9pm the same day.

"JJ is one of my heroes, in Singapore and in the world. I’ve been a huge fan of his music for almost my entire life and he’s a very talented individual, ahead of his time both back then and now. When I heard he was open to collaborating, I couldn’t believe it. It’s still a little weird to hear ad-libs I’ve been hearing my whole life on a song with my own voice," says Gentle Bones in a press statement.

The feeling is mutual. "I listened to a couple of his demos, and I was already a fan. I’ve told my colleagues about how I really like his music, " says Lin.

"He’s a kind, humble and very real person. JJ is undoubtedly one of the top artists I love, and it’s not very often that you have an artist you love and followed for so long willing to work with you," adds Gentle Bones.

"Though gentle and sentimental at first, his music is perfect representation of a “quiet strong” movement and musical style that I’ve also been an advocate of," Lin remarks.

Reflecting on the track, JJ said: "When I heard the song, I thought there was a lot of power in the song and in the demo."

"The song came together really smoothly. He was warm and welcoming to the ideas I had. Obviously, I was nervous and excited," says Gentles Bones on this collaborating with Lin. "He’s a natural when it comes to songwriting. He would have a grasp on what could be improved immediately, and he suggested ideas straight off the bat."

On the creative process, Lin adds: "We had a lot of fun, exploring how we could make a song that belonged to us both. I’m glad it turned out the way it did."

“It’s been eight years in the making, and to finally get to release an album is a huge milestone for me. And having Tommy Jeans come on board to support the entire release and its plans gives us an opportunity to take branded collaborations to the next level,” says Tan on the tie-up. “Fashion and music are two vital elements of artistes, and being able to land such a perfect fit is a real blessing. A big thank you to the Tommy Jeans team,” he posits.

The album features tracks in collaboration with Benjamin Kheng, Tay Kewei, Karencici, Clara Benin, gamaliél, and lewloh. Last month, Gentle Bones released two tracks from the album and they have garnered over 20 million streams on digital platforms. The full album will be released by the end of 2021.

And that’s not all. Gentle Bones has also released the music video for his track ‘You’re My Superhero’. The film follows him as rediscovers his passion for defeating his nemesis, supervillain Keyboard Warrior, together with his sidekick.

“It’s really to celebrate those who have helped you in any way, those who have shined a light on your life when it may not have been the brightest. Everyone in the video are people who have contributed greatly to my musical career and whom I have co-created many great things together in our lives. I wanted them to be my video because I've never done it before,” says Tan on having his friend be part of his album.
