Men With Style: Anton Cruz, Sales Manager at Jordan Brand
The 36-year-old turned his childhood dream into a career, all grounded in the name of sneakers.

Born in Hong Kong, raised in Manila, and living in Singapore since 2018, Anton Cruz’s interests have stayed consistent from his childhood till now. Obsessed with basketball, and his hero Michael Jordan, Cruz turned his dream of being in the US National Basketball Association into his career in sales at Jordan Brand, a subsidiary of Nike. Cruz’s style is relaxed and effortless—often anchored by a pair of sneakers—and exudes a hint of nostalgia and cool nonchalance, which makes perfect sense given that he lists Matty Matheson, Michael Jordan, Tyler, The Creator and Jonah Hill as his style inspirations.

What does fashion mean to you?
“I’ve always felt that fashion, sports, and music are intertwined. I’ve always been passionate about all three, and my style is a reflection of that. To me, fashion is a form of self-expression. It is an extension of my personality, interests and passions. My wife’s style has also rubbed off on me—I’m not afraid to experiment with different colours and silhouettes!”
Who is your favourite fashion designer?
“Nigo. He’s changed the culture! I’ve been a fan of his since forever. He makes clothes that stand the test of time.”
Which up-and-coming designer or brand do you think more people should pay attention to, and why?
“American designer Willy Chavarria is someone to watch—he has a new point of view that shines through his work.”

What’s your first fashion memory?
Top, $239, Polo Ralph Lauren
“My first fashion memory was my mother buying my brother and I Ralph Lauren button-downs when we were kids. My most treasured wardrobe piece is a blue Ralph Lauren long-sleeved polo shirt I have had since 2002.”
What is your accessory of choice, and possible vice?
“Shoes, specifically sneakers, are my vice. The Jordan 1 85 High Bred is my current prized possession. As a fan of timeless pieces, this is the sneaker that started sneaker culture.”
What is your idea of the perfect outfit?
“A cool jacket, t-shirt, sunglasses and sneakers. I have to add my Rolex Explorer I, which goes with any look.”
