“I find poetry in chrome and pompadours; lowriding and rockabilly culture pulse through my veins,” muses Delvin Teo, or DELVIN730, as he prefers to be called. He is the man behind The Rollers Parlour, a local brand that has been quietly growing since 2018, though it only officially launched at Culture Cartel earlier this year. The influence of motorcycle culture is evident in his personal style as well as in the brand, which specialises in denim and leather. What sparked it off? His love for bands like Guns N’ Roses and X Japan, and the sketches he made with his father as a child.

“Back in 2016, Masanori Morikawa of Christian Dada noticed my presence and believed I could represent his vision for his runway show in Singapore—that was a core memory for me. My Christian Dada corduroy jacket from its spring/summer 2016 collection is a treasured piece.”

“I have always wanted to start a lifestyle brand; not just clothes, but a brand where I can keep subcultures alive and where like-minded people can come together. In the next five years, I will be constantly putting up new works and supporting subcultures. I would take things slow for The Rollers Parlour, so that the right people will come.”

Hedi Slimane is my main source of inspiration. His eye for details is commendable, and just genius. While his collection for Saint Laurent spring/summer 2015 is my favourite of all time, any Hedi Slimane-directed collection has my love.”

“Bags. My favourite bag is one that I made, and it became a part of me. It was a random experiment where I wanted to incorporate hair-on-hide on my products.”

What does Singapore mean to you?

“I think Singapore represents strength in discipline and progress. As a proud Singaporean, I want ‘Made In Singapore’ products to be recognised for high quality and skilled craftsmanship.”
