Hermès Spring/Summer 2022 Men’s Collection Exudes An Air Of Lightness
A collection that is luxurious yet relaxed.
For Hermes’ Spring/Summer 2022 menswear collection, creative director Véronique Nichanian once again dazzled with a collection that was luxurious and light at the same time. The offerings on display were a juxtaposition of the formal versus informal. In other words, clothes that you can wear at any occasion.

Nichanian also mixed up the use of fabrication, continuing the interplay of opposites with technical innovation in craftwork legacy. The hybrid approach resulted in a collection that’s energised with flexible shapes — leather comes alive with pops of colour and stitching graphics, with coats, parkas and double jacket-cardigans rendered in two different materials.

“The collection is an expression of grace, fluidity, and the shifting nature of our lives,” Nichanian says. “It also has a touch of the spirit of sailing as well, as in a response to our need to get away. It aims to encourage people to get out and roam — a desire we all share. We attempted to hone a freer, somewhat looser (though still precise) discourse. The collection features rather neutral colours: hemp, algae, chocolate... upon which stronger, more tender tones blossom, mingling here and there as if faded by the sun. Large flowers appear; colours burst into bright yellow, lettuce green. I also wanted to explore the legacy of certain in-house prints reinterpreted with new techniques — mesh for example. I wanted everything to be instilled with freedom, momentum, a duality of spirit. Though open and liberated, at heart this collection is not averse to a kind of bold formality.”
