Artistic director for Dior Men Kim Jones has done it again. For the Dior Men Spring 2023 capsule collection, Jones chose to work with Eli Russell Linnetz, creative director of ERL.
“We have worked with lots of different people on our collections, but this time I wanted to work with someone in a different way; I wanted somebody to see Dior from a different angle,” said Jones in the show notes “With Eli Russel Linnetz, not only do I like his work but working with a younger designer on Dior Men and seeing things from his perspective, felt incredibly inspiring. It was both familiar and revelatory; reaffirming why we both dreamed about working in fashion in the first place.”
Set on Windward Avenue in Venice, California, both designers successfully displayed a collection that is part American cool and part Parisian chic.
Linnetz, born and raised in Venice, drew inspiration from the history of the place and fuses pop sensibility into the House code such as incorporating classic motifs into the collection. Think satin and leather quilting onto skate sneakers, as well as relaxed suits made out of ocean-recovered polyester.
Elsewhere, Christian Dior’s favourite grey leaves its mark on jumpers, school blazers and crystal-encrusted shorts.
