WayV On Their Fourth Mini Album, Favourite Fashion Item And More
Titled 'Phantom', the repackage album comprises a total of eight tracks in varying genres as well as a title track of the same name.
Chinese boy band WayV is starting 2023 on a high note. The group staged a comeback in December last year with its fourth mini album titled Phantom. This repackage album will feature eight tracks in varying genres—including a title track of the same name.

The title track, "Phantom," explores the concept of overcoming adversity and hardship through its lyrics. Elsewhere in the album, expect tracks made in collaboration with international hitmakers such as Pan Yan Ting(潘彦廷)—the lyricist behind "秘境(Kick Back)," from WayV’s third mini album—Mike Daley, DEEZ, LDN Noise, JINBYJIN and more.

Ahead, WayV shares the song they loved working on the most, one fashion item they can’t live without, their new year’s resolutions and more, exclusively with BAZAAR Singapore.
What can you tell us about the new album?
KUN: Our fourth mini album, Phantom, consists of eight tracks—out of which six are new. Our title track, also called "Phantom," compares adversity and hardships to a ‘Phantom’ with a message of overcoming one’s will instead of being controlled by it. It’s a strong, addictive, hip-hop bass track, and I hope you will all love it.
Which song did you love working on the most, and why?
XIAOJUN: My favourite would be "Good Life" because there aren’t that many high notes, and it's very chill to sing it.
YANGYANG: Yes, I think "Good Life" is our favourite song, too. We had so much fun while filming the music video.

Name three of your songs that hold the most significance for you.
KUN: Three of WayV's songs that hold the most significance for me? Well, I think the first song is Phantom because it represents a great new start for WayV. The second song is "Diamonds Only"—it’s a great song. And the third is "Love Talk." Why "Love Talk?" It's because WayZenNi loves this song!
TEN: Oh, in this case, we should also include "Take Off!"
YANGYANG: Yes, it’s also a song that WayZenNi loves.
What’s the one fashion item you can’t live without?
XIAOJUN: I think it’s a hat for me. I always wear a hat when I go outside. Always.
YANGYANG: I think for me, it’s shoes! I think everyone knows why. I love shoes!
KUN: I like shoes, too!
TEN: My must-have items would be a necklace and bracelet. I’ve been wearing them since I was a little boy. They were gifted to me by my parents, so it’s very meaningful to me.

What are you most looking forward to in 2023?
YANGYANG: The thing that I look forward to the most is our fan meetings. We are finally starting our fan meeting tour. And I hope that people who didn’t get a chance to see us in the past two years can come to our stage and feel our presence. Also, we’d like to feel our WayZenNi’s love for us.
HENDERY: I really want to get taller! It’s my personal goal. This is why I drink juice every morning. I also hope we can meet WayZenNi more often.
TEN: My goal for 2023 is to travel around the world with WayV because we haven’t had the chance to do so, privately. I wish we could go somewhere very far, surrounded by nature. I like seeing mountains and valleys.
XIAOJUN: My goal is to further improve my singing and dancing skills.
KUN: Our members have already mentioned most of the things I wanted to say. However, personally, I would like to skydive in different places around the world, especially with beautiful scenery.

Lastly, what would you like to say to your fans in Singapore?
YANGYANG: It's quite a shame that we haven’t been to Singapore yet, but, I feel like in 2023, we will be there soon and we’d really like to perform in front of you all! I hope all the WayZenNi in Singapore can look forward to our stages and performances. We hope to see you this year.
TEN: If you call us, we will go!
XIAOJUN: 2023 is a new start for WayV. Some of our members have yet to visit Singapore, and even for members who have been before, we all are very excited and look forward to visiting Singapore. We're all highly expecting an event in Singapore, so please take care of yourselves and stay healthy. We will go to Singapore and meet our fans, so please wait for us!
