Welcome to Take the Edge Off, a series that breaks down the beauty and self-care routines of influencers, CEOs, experts, and celebrities. Find out how they unwind and decompress, while taking a closer look at the holy grail essentials they’re currently raving about.
You didn’t have to be a kid in the ’90s to know designer, beauty founder, and artist Victoria Beckham as one fifth of the iconic pop group, the Spice Girls.
While the legendary band is well-known for its fashion takes uniquely tailored to each member’s personality, Beckham says that it’s the beauty looks that have always piqued her interest. “Beauty has always been a passion of mine, and it really began during my time in the Spice Girls,” she tells BAZAAR.com. “I always enjoyed sitting in makeup chairs, learning tips and tricks whilst discovering my personal makeup preferences.”

Countless glam sessions, a successful fashion brand, and a number of perfectly coifed bobs later, Beckham ultimately transitioned into the beauty space years after she decided to put her down the mic for good. Beckham later released her namesake skincare staples in partnership with beloved brand Augustinus Bader. “I got my start in the industry with a capsule collection that spanned two collections, and from there I set out to build a brand of my own,” Beckham continues. “My goal was to create products that I, of course, wanted to use and were essentially missing from my makeup bag.”
In an effort to round out the rest of her daily rotation, the founder has since expanded Victoria Beckham Beauty’s offerings, most recently launching its first crease-proof eyeshadow sticks. “When starting to build my dream makeup line, I had a strong vision for my brand: Cleanly formulated, sustainably minded, cruelty-free, and high-performing products,” she explains. “I wanted to create products that challenge beauty standards and take it to the next level, and I’ve been lucky enough to work with incredible makeup artists and beauty experts throughout my career that has helped shape my perspective.” As Beckham’s popular beauty ranges are now available exclusively at top retailers like Bergdorf Goodman, Violet Grey, and Net-A-Porter, the dream brand she imagined creating many moons ago as Posh Spice is a welcome reality for thousands of diehard fans and beauty enthusiasts alike.
Here, BAZAAR.com catches up with Beckham to hear more about how the beauty and fashion boss recharges and re-centers on a regular basis. From warm baths and morning workouts, to getting her fair share of beauty rest, read on to see how she maintains her well-rounded approach to self-care.
What are some of your go-to bath and/or shower products?
I love a warm bath, especially on days when I’m on back to back calls, I like to use Epsom salts to unwind from the day. I usually follow this with the Osea Undaria Algae Body Oil and use it on my damp skin to lock in moisture.

Do you have a favourite hand sanitiser, soap, and/or cream right now?
I love Weleda Skin Food: I use it on my hands morning and night.

What beauty or self-care products do you use on a regular basis to help combat Zoom fatigue?
I’m religious about my skincare routine. I struggled with my skin for years, so ensuring it’s clean and healthy is a big part of my beauty routine. I cleanse my face every morning and night using the Augustinus Bader Cleansing Balm, follow with our Victoria Beckham by Augustinus Bader Cell Rejuvenating Power Serum, then add the Cell Rejuvenating Priming Moisturizer.
I love these products, and was so honored to be able to develop them in partnership with Professor Bader, especially because of the immediate changes I noticed in my skin after using his products. I also usually swipe on my Instant Brightening Waterline Pencil—it’s the perfect nude for my waterline, and it immediately makes me look so awake and polished. I’ll also add on a little Posh Gloss in the shade Poolside for a quick lip.

Do you ever light a candle or stick of incense to decompress? If so, what are some of your favourites?
I adore the Diptyque candles in Figuier. I surround myself with them everywhere, both at home, in the office, and even at my Dover Street store!

What was the last beauty product you put on today?
I always end my beauty routine with Posh Gloss, and I actually just reapplied it! Our glosses are super hydrating and act as a tinted treatment with a high shine finish. I have a few shades I keep on rotation depending on the day’s events, season, and mood. I reach for Poolside the most, it’s a neutral rosy shade that I wear on its own or over my Lip Definer in shade 02. Ice is my go to for when I’m looking for a minimal lip, it’s the ultimate crystal clear gloss. The formula uses lip repairing active ingredients that moisturise and strengthen the lip barrier.

Are you into bold makeup, no makeup, or no-makeup makeup right now, and why?
It really varies, as I’ve gone through phases of preferring all of these looks in the past. I’d say I fall somewhere in the middle of these as I do love a good makeup look. I am quite minimal on what I use on my skin, as I like it to shine through. In place of foundation, I use the Cell Rejuvenating Priming Moisturizer in Golden because it provides the perfect foundation-free glow. I then swipe on our Cheeky Posh Cream Blush Stick, and Reflect Highlighter Stick on the high points of my face for an extra glass-like glow, and blend it in with my fingertips.
I’m typically more imaginative with my eye looks: A smoky eye is my signature, and I often play with its colour and finish. Recently, I’ve been using our EyeWear Shadow Sticks as they’re super creamy, and give me just the right amount of time to smudge and blend before they set. I’ll use Trench as my base, and then Pecan to sculpt and contour my eyes before adding some definition along the lash line with Bottle Green. Each shade was inspired by my fashion collection. I love building a wardrobe of basics and then introducing pops of colour for the season. Next, I finish off with a few coats of Future Lash Mascara.
If I’m going for a more casual look, I pair our Bitten Lip Tint with our Lip Definer, and finish off with a layer of our Posh Gloss in Ice in the centre of my lips to make them look fuller. And when I want more colour, I love using Posh Lipstick in Twist or Spice.

What’s the last fitness class you streamed or attended in person?
I usually workout every morning prior to beginning my day and recently incorporated strength training into my routine which has been a fun way to switch up my regime. When I want to sneak a workout in and I’m low on time, I love wearing the Bala Bangles wrist and ankle weights: They’re a sneaky way to feel that burn in a short amount of time.
What’s one piece of self-care advice you’d recommend to our readers?
Creating healthy sleep habits is incredibly important; it’s become a key part of my self-care practice. I’ve been working on incorporating less screen time and more mindfulness into my routine, which means putting my phone away before bedtime. I also like to keep crystals on my nightstand for extra clarity.
