5 Tricks To Looking 5 Years Younger

For years, we have been obsessing over fine lines and wrinkles in a bid to look younger than our years. But forget Botox, here are five quick tricks to make you look healthier and younger in a matter of minutes…

A good blow-dry

The trick: Healthy, shiny, bouncy hair is what every woman wants. As you age, tresses naturally become thinner and creating that glossy finish is harder. The remedy is a great blow-dry. Not only does it leave locks looking and feeling healthier, but good hair is a powerful distractor from dark under-eye circles and blemishes, too.

The products: For long-lasting volume, look to John Frieda 7 Day Volume In-Shower Treatment, £9.99. To smooth tresses, invest in Aveda’s Smooth Infusion Naturally Straight, £25.50; it is by far the best frizz reducer.

Where to book: If you’re in a hurry, book an appointment at Blow Ltd, from £30. For more of a pampering experience, go to Percy & Reed, from £25.

A healthy glow

The trick: Age-defying skin is no longer focused on the lines and wrinkles. Improving your radiance is essential for that healthy, fresh-faced youthfulness.

The products: Hydration is key for achieving and maintaining a healthy glow. Look to Dior’s Hydra Life Pro-Youth Sorbet Serum, £52. It can be layered underneath your usual cream and also patted on top of make-up throughout the day if skin needs a boost. For instant radiance, incorporate an illuminating base into your make-up routine, such as Burberry Fresh Glow Luminous Base, £34, or Tom Ford Illuminating Protective Primer, £54.

Where to book: There is a reason why celebrities book a treatment withSarah Chapman ahead of the red carpet. With healing hands and a cocktail of highly-active formulas, Chapman can transform skin within the hour.

Groomed brows

The trick: Well-shaped brows frame your face and accentuate your natural bone structure. It is worth having them professionally shaped at least once every three to four months, if not monthly, to avoid over-plucking.

The products: We’ve yet to find a product that compares to the results we get from Benefit’s Gimme Brow, £18.50. The gel formula fills out browns and fixes them in place all day. For a subtler finish, go for a shade lighter than you usually would.

Where to book: Benefit Brow Bar is the only place we will have our brows waxed. If threading is your preference, go to Blink Brow Bar.

A sparkling smile

The trick: While yellowing teeth is never a good look, neither is a glow-in-the-dark smile. Mastering a natural-looking finish is essential for your teeth and can take years off your look.

The products: Swap your manual toothbrush for an electric one; we recommend Philips Sonicare Diamond Clean, £124.99, which comes with a whitening setting and times how long you should be cleaning each section of your mouth. A good-quality toothpaste, such as Regenerate Enamel Science Advanced Toothpaste, £10, or Pearl Drops Flawless White toothpaste, £6.99, will also make a difference.

Where to book: For professional teeth whitening, see Dr Uchenna at London Smiling for a natural finish. To straighten your smile, visit Dr Neil Counihan at Metamorphosis.

A glossy manicure

The trick: Quite simply, chip-free nails make you look and feel more groomed.

The products: We really rate Essie nail polishes, £9.99, in terms of the longevity and the range of colours available. To make your manicure last longer, be sure to ‘squeak’ your nails, which means before applying your base coat, wipe each nail with nail-polish remover to get rid of any excess oil.Seche Vite top coat, £9.85, is in every nail technician’s kit backstage because it really does seal your polish for longer.

Where to book: For a long-lasting manicure and a pampering experience, visit DryBy salon.
