Come Closer Skin Perfecting Setting Powder, $69, Orcé

Applying makeup in Singapore's hot and humid weather is like playing a game in 'hard' mode—sweat and sebum often make foundation slide and makeup appears cakey and uneven after a few hours even when you have long-wearing makeup on. Thankfully, there's a secret weapon that extends the wear of your makeup, all while retaining the natural radiance of your skin.

Come closer

The Come Closer Perfecting Setting Powder from Orcé is a finely-milled loose setting powder that mattifies and sets the makeup—effectively extending the wear of your complexion makeup without making skin dry or lustreless. Made without talc, its featherlight texture blends into skin effectively and blurs out the appearance of pores and fine lines to impart a soft focus glow, like an Instagram filter IRL. The shade is universal, which means a mistake-proof colour matching to your skin tone and is packed with skin-loving ingredients like hyaluronic acid, Tahitian pearl and Chinese herb evodia rutaecarpa.

Makeup-skincare hybrid

Hyaluronic acid is the gold standard for hydration, with its ability to hold up to 1,000 times its weight in water, to form a reservoir of moisture for the skin to draw from. Tahitian pearl targets skin concerns like hyperpigmentation to brighten the complexion. It also has the ability to stimulate collagen production so skin is more plump, with fewer lines. Lastly evodia rutaecarpa, a herb native to Korea and China, is often used in Traditional Chinese Medicine to boost microcirculation. It also has the ability to improve skin texture, as well as protect it from environmental stressors.

While setting powders are often thought to be used only for mattifying skin, Orcé's Come Closer Perfecting Setting Powder lets you achieve both matte or glowy looks. Dab the powder with a puff and concentrate it on the oily T-zones area for a matte look but gently dust the setting powder with a fluffy brush all over the face for a lit-from-within glow. It's your secret weapon to helping foundation stay flawless, even in hot and humid conditions.

For Asians, by Asians

Orcé was founded by Yu-Chen Shih, who was born in Taiwan and raised in Singapore, before moving to Los Angeles as a teenager. Her Taiwanese-Malay background and international upbringing allowed her to be exposed to various beauty rituals from different cultures since a young age. However, she noticed that Asians were using products that were not really made with their needs in mind. Orcé was created to address this gap in the beauty industry and as a celebration of her Asian heritage— to create high-performance skincare-infused makeup that addresses skin tones and skin types overlooked by the beauty industry.

Orcé is available at Tangs online. For more information, visit orcecosmetics.com.
