Pink is the new black, and Korean celebrities like Kim Tae Hee, Park Shin-Hye, Lee Sung Kyung and Song Hye-Kyo are showing off different ways to wear the colour on your eyes, cheeks and lips. To be pretty in pink, consider your skin tone, so if you’re fair, have fun with pale and baby pinks like beauty blogger Pony. If you are tanned, go for a peach or mauve-y pink. And if you’re feeling really adventurous, try a monochromatic look, but avoid looking cartoonish by keeping it soft and romantic with brown eyeliner and choosing matte over glossy and shiny textures.

“Most ladies should be able to pull off Lee Sung Kyung’s pink look,” says makeup artist Cindy Goh. To achieve this look yourself, remember to “accentuate only one area (either on the eyes or the lips) and keep the rest of the face soft,” says Goh. Start by prepping your skin with a plumping moisturiser for a smooth and dewy finish. Following with a radiance-enhancing primer and a sheer coverage foundation to even out skin tone. According to Goh, apply a rosy pink or nude eyeshadow all over the lids, then use a brown kohl pencil to softly define your eyes. Follow with a powder pink blusher for that lightly diffused effect and finish with a rose lip colour.

Perfect for getting Lee Sung Kyung’s rosebud lips, this matte lip colour gives a velvety effect and its two-tone bullet also means you can easily get the ombre look easily. Plus, it’s a perfect shade of soft pink without looking too pastel-y, making it ideal for those with light to medium skin tones.
In line with the tonal makeup look, sweep a pink blush over the apples of your cheeks for a natural flush. You can also top it off with some highlighting powder on the tops of your cheekbones to further accentuate your features.
Complete your look with a light veil of satiny and shimmery pink on your lids. This versatile palette contains neutral shades so you can create an au naturel effect as well as a softly defined look.
Park Shin-Hye, @ssinz7
“Park Shin-Hye draws attention to her pout with stained lips,” says makeup artist, Marc Teng. According to Teng, choosing a warmer shade of pink can make the look more elegant. Alternatively, you can go for a coral shade, which makes it easier to pull off for most Asian skin tones. “Try using a matte lipstick to achieve this look,” advises Teng. “Dab on lipstick with fingers or beauty blender to achieve a more natural, softer lip stained look. For more intensity, use a lip brush to paint on the lipstick and then the tip of your finger to drag and smudge the colour around the outer corner of the lip line,” he adds. To complete the look, define your eyes with a slight flick of liquid eyeliner for a winged effect and a touch of glam.

This coral shade has warm undertones so you won’t look washed out. The self-sharpening crayon tip also makes application fuss-free—just apply onto the centre of your lips and blur our the edges for a stained effect.
This fiery coral shade leaves a velvety finish that’s non-drying so you’re guaranteed all-day wear without any fading or feathering.
Perfect for all skin tones, this liquid lip colour is neither too warm nor cool to flatter every complexion. It sets into a powdery, budge-proof effect and can be easily layered for added intensity. We also like keeping one of these in your handbag as it doubles up as a cheek tint too.

Song Hye-Kyo, @kyo1122
“If you’re fair like Song Hye-Kyo and want to look more youthful, wearing a bold pink lip is the way to go,” says makeup artist Manisa Tan. “It’s important to prep your skin with a good moisturiser so that your foundation goes on smoothly and you achieve an ethereal glow to complement the pink lip,” Tan adds, “and remember to set the foundation with loose powder to help it last longer”. Don’t forget to apply a lip treatment product before lipstick to create a smooth and plump base.
